Mr. Robert Mulhern, President
A founding board member of Veritas, Mr. Mulhern has a 20-year career in real estate, including stints with CBRE and the Ryan companies. He is currently President of the Reliance Companies. He and his wife Tina currently have two children enrolled in the school. Mr. Mulhern is also a founding board member and Treasurer of Great Hearts Academies.
Mrs. Denise Zabilski, Vice President
Mrs. Zabilski’s 18-year career in business includes time as a manager and Director of Corporate Training for the Marriot Corporation. She and her husband Steve currently have three children at the school. The Zabilskis were one of the founding families of Veritas.
Mr. James Heiler, Treasurer
A founding board member of Veritas, Mr. Heiler is a public affairs consultant, and was formerly a journalist, an attorney in the state AG’s office, and Chief of Staff to the Governor of Arizona. He and his wife Carol currently have three students enrolled at Veritas. Mr. Heiler is also a founding board member and President of Great Hearts Academies.
Dr. Daniel Scoggin
Dr. Daniel Scoggin is the CEO of Great Hearts Academies, the parent charter management organization for Veritas Prep. Prior to joining Great Hearts, Dr. Scoggin was the headmaster of Tempe Preparatory Academy for six years and a Humane Letters teacher and basketball coach. He holds his Ph.D. in English Literature from Claremont Graduate University and his B.A. from Santa Clara University.
Mrs. Karyn Mercado
Mrs. Mercado is the Headmaster of Mesa Preparatory Academy, the newest Great Hearts Academy in the valley. Before becoming headmaster she was a 6-year veteran teacher at Tempe Preparatory Academy, specializing in choral music and foreign languages, of which she is a Master Teacher. She has an M.A. in Spanish Linguistics from ASU.
